Climbing the mountain of Huayna Picchu is one of the highlights and the most popular activity when visiting Machu Picchu. This ticket gives you general access to enter Machu Picchu at 06am and climb the mountain of Huaynapicchu at 07am.
The entrance to climb Huayna Picchu is inside the citadel of Machu Picchu. You must be at the Huayna Picchu entrance checkpoint between the hours of 07am - 08am.
You are given maximum time of 3 hours to complete climbing Huaynapicchu mountain. Then you are allowed an additional 4hrs to to explore the citadel of Machu Picchu after your climb to Huaynapicchu mountain.
You don't need a guide to climb Huaynapicchu Mountain. But you must be accompanied by an official guide the entire time you visit the citadel of Machu Picchu. Please hire Machu Picchu a guide ahead of time to avoid last minute problems.
Notice:Huaynapicchu is currently closed due to Covid-19 safety. However, reservations are still open. Make your reservation now to secure your spot in advance as spaces are limited. In the case Huaynapicchu is closed on your travel date, you will be re-issued only the Machu Picchu ticket and you will be given a refund for the difference in ticket price.
Huaynapicchu has 2 trails: short trail and long trail. The short trail takes 3 hours round trip to complete the entire hike. This takes into account 1 hour to reach the summit, 30 minutes to take pictures and rest on some of the terraces that give you amazing views of Machu Picchu, 1 hour to climb down as well as 30 minutes to compensate for those who need to go slowly due to physical fitness and altitude.
The long trail takes 4.5 hours round trip to complete the entire hike. The long trail is for those who want to visit the Temple of the Moon. This takes into account 1.5 hours to reach the summit, 30 minutes to take pictures and ret on some of the terraces that give you amazing views of Machu Picchu, 1.5 hours to climb down, 30 minutes to spend time at the Temple of the moon as well as 30 minutes to compensate for those who go at a slow pace due to physical fitness and altitude
Your ticket to Machu Picchu + Huaynapicchu can be shown electronically or printed on paper. Your Machu Picchu ticket will be accepted from a cell phone or mobile device as long as it shows the ticket barcode. You must also provide your original passport. The name on your passport and your Machu Picchu ticket must match.
All of the Waynapicchu tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable. In the case Huaynapicchu is closed on the date of your visit, you can still enter Machu Picchu and you will be given a refund for the difference in ticket price. The refund will be automatically issued back to your credit card used to pay for your ticket. All Wayna Picchu tickets are valid for 1 day only, for the date and times stated on the ticket. You can only re-enter one time with this ticket, so please plan ahead as there are no bathrooms inside Machu Picchu. And no food is allowed inside Machu Picchu in order to preserve this world wonder for future generations.
Cancellations or refunds of Machu Picchu tickets are not allowed by Peru's Ministerio de Cultura. The Ministry of Culture only allows you to change the date of your visit. To make a change, there is an administrative fee of $5USD + a percentage of the ticket cost:
30% if 24hr before original visit date
25% if 48hr before original visit date
10% if 72hr before original visit date
