Machu Picchu tickets online

Machu Picchu entrance tickets can not be purchased at the entrance of the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. You must purchase your Machu Picchu entrance tickets online from an authorized Ministry of Culture ticket agency or directly from the Ministry of Culture official website machupicchu.gob.pe.

Step 1: Choose the type of Machu Picchu entrance ticket

Your first step is to decide what type of Machu Picchu entrance ticket you want. Visit the Machu Pichu ticket price list and decide what type of ticket you would like. Unlike years past where you could freely move around Machu Picchu with a single entrance ticket, the Peruvian Ministry of Culture has 4 circuits of Machu Picchu totaling 11 routes. Additionally, some of these routes include hikes to climb to the summit of 3 mountains that surround the Incan citadel: Huayna Picchu mountain, Machu Picchu mountain and Huchuy Picchu mountain. The table below shows all 11 circuits established as of June 1st, 2024:

Additionally, entrance tickets to climb Huayna Picchu also sell out months in advance. So please make sure you check the availability of Machu Picchu tickets prior to making your purchase.

Step 3: Hire a Guide for Machu Picchu

Hiring a guide to visit Machu Picchu is now mandatory for the Citadel portion of your visit. However, this is not being enforced at the moment. Hiking Huaynapicchu mountain or Machu Picchu mountain can be done on your own without a guide. However, if you have Circuit 2 ticket, you can join a guided tour group or you can also hire a private guide. It is best to hire a guide in advance specially if you are hiking Huaynapicchu or Machu Picchu mountain because these require the guide to coordinate meeting you typically after your hike to these mountains.
