Peru is open to most travelers regardless if you have been vaccinated for Covid or not. If you are traveling to Peru as a tourist, you need to make sure you meet the following entry requirements:
All travelers, vaccinated or not, must show proof of negative Covid-19 test prior to enter Peru. Peru will accept the following tests:
Quarantine is not required for tourists. It is only required for nationals and residents of Peru coming from or who have been in the last 14 days in Brazil, South Africa or India.
Tourists from Brazil, South Africa or India will not be allowed into Peru until August 8, 2021. Please check latest info before traveling to Peru.
All vaccinated or non-vaccinated passengers, 2 years and older, must wear two (2) masks during their stay at all airports in the national territory and at all times at all times during their travel to, from and within Peru. This means at embarkation, on board and disembarkation.
Wearing a transparent face shield is optional but some regions of Peru may require it depending on the level of Covid infection. It is always best to bring one with you at all times so please get a face shield that is foldable and easy to pack.
The wearing of face masks in public places is mandatory and social distancing measures of at least one meter must be respected.
According to Supreme Decree 131-2021-PCM the National Government of Peru extended the Level of Alert by department until September 1, 2021. Which imposes different restrictions depending on the level of risk of COVID-19 infection. The Decree specifies which activities are allowed in each risk level.
During the period of the National State of Emergency, all persons must stay at home and tourists at their hotels from Monday to Sunday, according to the Level of Alert by Department:
Please note that passengers can use their boarding pass for transfers to or from the airport during lockdown hours.
Even if a top tourist city like Machu Picchu is on Extreme alert level, tourism would only be affected on Sundays.
Covid-19 tests for travelers are available in Peru in most tourist cities like Lima, Cusco, Puno, Arequipa among many others.
