What is the Inti Raymi Festival?

The Inti Raymi Festival, also known as the Festival of the Sun, is the most important Inca celebration in Cusco and one of the most spectacular cultural events in Peru. Held every year on June 24th, this traditional ceremony honors the Sun God, the most sacred deity of the Inca Empire, and marks the Andean winter solstice, harvest season, and the beginning of the Inca New Year.

Thousands of visitors gather in Cusco to witness this unforgettable reenactment filled with music, colorful costumes, royal processions, traditional dances, and powerful ceremonial performances. When and Where is Inti Raymi Held?

The Inti Raymi ceremony takes place every year on June 24th across three historic stages in Cusco:
